No First Friday in December; FF in Jan. will be the Second Friday

Hey all, happy holidays, Thanksgiving and Christmas.  It has become clear that there is no way I can be at FF on December's First Friday, and it gets worse the second Friday of December, so December is out for FF.  January you can consider it firm that we'll meet the second Friday.

He's Back and Hasn't Changed a Bit!!

Greetings First Friday.  Our planned Sept. 7 meeting will be postponed to Sept. 14!  Make a note and tell your friends.  See you then.  Bring copies if you can, usually about 12 to 15, and if that's not enough we can share around the room.  The practice is to spend 10 minutes with each person who wants to participate.  You can read the whole ten minutes, or read five minutes and let us discuss for five.  It will be so good to see you all again.  --  Philip

Greetings, hard-working writers. We're on for this coming Friday, 6:30 p.m. in Woolson House on the Rollins College campus. Bring at least 10 copies of your piece of prose or poetry to share. Each writer will have 10 minutes. This is a supportive group offering constructive feedback to help one another bring our writing forward. We encourage all levels of writers to join us--even the most proficient can enjoy helping others to improve.
Wonderful news: Dr. Philip Deaver will be back in his armchair on September 7th, offering his warmth and wisdom as always. It's great that we'll have him back soon.
I hope to see many of you on Friday.
Best, Kathryn

Hello, friends. We're ON for June 1st, 6:30 p.m. in Woolson House on the Rollins College campus. First Friday is a writing critique group for prose and poetry. Our approach is gentle and supportive, and our goal is to help one another refine our writing. Please bring a late-stage draft of your work to share, with copies (about 10-15) so we can follow along. This group is open to the public and we welcome new members. Please join us and bring a friend.

I forgot to mention that April 6th is also the beginning of Passover, another reason for rescheduling. And I wouldn't be surprised if there are other holidays in other religions at this time. May your holidays bring you what you're seeking from them. See you on the 13th!

Sunday, March 18, 2012

Hello First Friday people, old and new. Because April 6 is Good Friday, an important holiday for many people, we're postponing First Friday until April 13, 6:30 p.m. in Woolson House on the Rollins campus. Please bring about 15 copies of a late-stage draft of poetry or prose to share. Each writer will have 10 minutes to read and receive feedback. It's exciting to think that Philip Deaver will be back in his chair in just a few months, and in the meantime I'll continue to do my best to substitute. Best wishes to all of you. I hope to see you on the 13th. Kathryn
